Frequently Asked Questions About Hotel and Resort Photography

Professional hotel photography makes the architecture, atmosphere and distinctive sense of place of a property visible. Here we answer the most important questions about the planning, production and use of high-quality hotel and resort photography.

Professional hotel and resort photography does more than show rooms and facilities. It communicates the character and quality standards of a property. Architecture, interiors, light, details and authentic moments are combined to create a consistent visual world.

Tablo develops the photography to suit the hotel's brand identity, positioning and target audience. The result is imagery that informs, evokes emotion and makes the guest experience tangible even before booking.

Which motifs are required depends on the property's offering, target audiences and marketing strategy. A hotel production often includes:

  • Exterior architecture and surroundings
  • Lobby, rooms and suites
  • Restaurants, bars and culinary experiences
  • Spa, wellness and pool areas
  • Distinctive details and materials
  • Staff, hosts and service
  • Authentic lifestyle and guest scenes

Before the shoot, Tablo works with the hotel to define which areas are particularly relevant for the website, the booking decision and overall brand communication.

At the beginning, Tablo defines the objectives, target audiences, intended applications and desired visual impact. On site, architecture, interiors, details and lifestyle scenes are photographed in line with the agreed concept.

This is followed by image selection, professional retouching and brand-appropriate colour grading. Colours, contrasts and lighting moods are coordinated to create a premium and consistent visual world. Tablo can manage the entire process or build on an existing concept developed by the hotel's marketing team.

The visual language is developed from the identity and atmosphere of the hotel. Colour palette, lighting, perspectives, motifs, staging and the use of people are coordinated so that the photographs authentically reflect the character of the property.

Existing brand guidelines and Corporate Design specifications are incorporated into the concept. If a defined visual language does not yet exist, Tablo can develop it together with the hotel and document it for long-term brand communication. This creates a coherent visual world rather than a collection of interchangeable individual images.

Yes. A hotel photo shoot can generally be carried out while the property remains open. This requires careful planning, coordinated time slots and reliable access to the intended spaces.

Rooms, restaurants, spa areas and outdoor facilities should be prepared in advance and, wherever possible, be accessible without disruption. For lifestyle photography, models, staff, styling and the required sequences are also coordinated beforehand. For larger productions, several shooting days provide additional flexibility in relation to occupancy, light and weather.

Yes. Tablo frequently combines photography and video within a single production. Rooms, models, staging, travel and organisational preparation can therefore be used efficiently for both media.

The production schedule is planned so that both standalone photographs and professional moving images are created. This gives the hotel a consistent visual foundation for its website, imagevideo, social media, campaigns, brochures and presentations. Depending on the project, drone footage, reels and video snippets can also be included in the production.

Professional hotel and resort photography generally starts at EUR 2,500 net, although the final cost depends heavily on the scope and requirements of the production. Key factors include the size of the property, the number of motifs and shooting days, the desired visual language, lifestyle scenes with models, travel requirements, and the scope and depth of post-production.

Combining the shoot with video, drone footage or seasonal productions also affects the calculation. Following a personal consultation, Tablo prepares an individual quotation tailored to the required output and intended applications.

Professional hotel photographs can be prepared for the hotel website, booking platforms, social media, digital campaigns, press relations, brochures, magazines, presentations and other print media. Tablo considers these applications during the planning stage and creates suitable motifs and image crops for digital, mobile and printed use.

Even a high-quality visual world should be reviewed regularly. Rooms are renovated, offerings change and visual communication evolves. For this reason, it is advisable to review existing hotel photography approximately every two to three years. This check identifies which images still fit the brand and where new photography would be useful for rooms, public areas or individual offers. A complete new production is not always necessary: often it is sufficient to update changed spaces or add missing motifs selectively.
